Ensuring Judges View Certain Assigned Criteria in Competitions

In our system, criteria are linked to Competitors, not Judges. This means that if a Competitor is tagged with multiple criteria—such as the "Proof of Concept Special Award" and others—all assigned Judges will see all those criteria, regardless of any tag they have.

If you have judges that should only see certain criteria- for example, if you have category judging that uses a standard rubric and then different special awards that use a different rubric, we recommend following the steps below.

Suggested Approach: Setting Up Separate Events

To address this, we recommend creating two separate events in RocketJudge:

1. General Competition Event: Includes all Competitors and focuses solely on the general criteria that apply to everyone. Judges in this event assess Competitors based on these universal standards without considering special awards.

2. Special Awards Event: Includes only Competitors nominated for special awards. Judges assigned to this event evaluate participants exclusively on the criteria relevant to their specific special award category.

This setup ensures that Judges see only the criteria relevant to their assignments, making the evaluation process clearer and more efficient.

Note: in almost all cases, RocketJudge allows multiple event setups like described above for no additional cost. Talk to your sales rep or email us at help@rocketjudge.com if you have questions.
